WHATS THE SECRET TO FIGURING OUT WHAT COLOURS TO WEAR WITH MY DEBS DRESS?
Ok, so you have your dress picked and you look amazing. Shoes are ready for dancing and showing your classmates your hot new moves, and the bag is big enough to hold essentials such as lipgloss, phone and money etc.
But panic sets in, you’ve no idea what makeup to choose or where to even begin!!
Relax, and read on!
Foundation: Regardless of the colour of your hair, or the colour of your dress, the colour of your foundation should match your skin. A great place to test foundation is your jawline. No, not the back of your hand, not under your wrist where the blue vein is, but on your jawline! This shows you how well the colour blends in with your neck.
(RUTH LAWLORS TOP TIP- if you are wearing fake tan, go up a shade than what you would usually wear, otherwise your face will look white in photos-not a good look.)
Now for the eyes. We need to ensure that your date is gazing into your eyes only at the Debs so go for the wow factor!
Eyeshadows: Ok so heres the tricky part. You can go for natural, or smokey dark colours. While some of you may think the best option is to match the colour of your eyeshadow to the colour of your dress, if your dress is red……it might not be such a great idea!
Turquoise, plums etc all look great with matching dresses, but if you want your eyes to really stand out, try the following:
Green Eyes: If you have green eyes, go for copper/bronze colours or plum tones. This will really bring out the colour of your eyes.
Blue eyes: If you have blue eyes go for golds, it looks amazing! Or again plum tones.
Brown Eyes:If you are one of the lucky ones and have brown eyes, you can wear almost anything! Although olive colours, and greens look amazing on brown eyes.
Hazel Eyes:If you have hazel/off green eyes, go for soft coppers. And nothing too dark. The colour of your eyes will really stand out, and your date will just be looking at them all night!
RUTH LAWLORS TOP TIP For the fair skinned beauties, be careful using plums/and pinks etc, as they can make your eyes look a bit tired or sore. Go for soft versions of these colours as opposed to really dark plums etc.
If you prefer something a bit more natural, why not try adding a little colour in your eyeliner? All brands now make a full range of colours in their eyeliners, MAC have a huge range, and you could apply a little eyeliner to give your eyes that something special without going overboard or feeling uncomfortable. If you really don’t want any colour go for a soft silver, or beige colour.
Lip colours:
This one depends on the eyeshow and your own preference! Try different colours, but if you do have a strong smokey look on the eyes, keep it soft on the lips. If you have a bright red lipstick on, go for a classic liquid liner, and a soft eyeshadow colour.
Once you have the eyeshadows right, and a kissable lipgloss your date wont be able to resist you!
