TIPS ON BOOKING TRANSPORT

Your Debs night is often your first ‘big night’ out, so don’t spoil this special occasion by choosing the wrong limousine company.

Where should you start?

  • Get the date and venue (no point in starting your search if you can’t check availability)
  • If you are planning on an American style limousine, get 8 of you together to share the cost. Irish Limousine regulations stipulate that a maximum of 8 passengers are allowed in any type of Limousine.
  • Book as EARLY as possible.  During Debs season, demand outstrips supply.  If you require a Hummer limousine in particular, these are often booked up to a year in advance.
  • Research!

Where do you start looking?

  • The best place to start, is try to get recommendations from others who have used a limousine service before.  Perhaps speak to those who went to last years Debs and see whether they were happy with the service they chose.
  • Limousine companies mainly advertise on-line on sites such as this or you could try an internet search or the phonebook.

How do I know the company I’m dealing with is reputable?

  • The way your initial enquiry is dealt with is a good way to gauge this.  How quickly did the company take to deal with your enquiry? Did they take the time to find out your exact requirements?  Did they get back to you promptly if you left a message?  Did they offer to show you the car you will be booking? Did you get a good feel for the person who dealt with your enquiry?
  • Shop around, but remember that the cheapest isn’t necessarily the best.  As with most things in life, you only get what you pay for.   If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
  • If you are enquiring on-line, look at the website…is it professional?  Do they provide a landline number and contact address?  Whilst this should not be the sole factor, it may help you decide on their credibility.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask about important factors such as insurance.  A reputable company will not hesitate to provide you with proof of insurance and/or a copy of their limousine licence if asked.

What questions should I ask?

  • Can I view the limousines? – again, a reputable company would have no problem with you viewing.  This is highly recommended so that you know EXACTLY what car you will be getting.
  • How old are the vehicles and what are the interiors like?  Do they have an up to date music system, modern lighting, Karaoke (if this is your thing!) etc
  • What exactly are you getting for your money? i.e. how long do you get for the price quoted, will the driver make multiple pick ups, will they allow time for you have photographs at each house, is the Chauffeur experienced and uniformed?
  • How much is the deposit and when is the balance due?
  • What methods of payment do they accept?
  • If the worst case scenario happens on the night and the limousine breaks down will you get your money back?
  • Is there a damage deposit?
  • Does the company have terms and conditions that you should be aware of?

One week before:

  • Contact your limousine company (if they haven’t already contacted you) and check ALL details, especially date, time, place and order of pick ups.
  • Obtain the drivers mobile no so you can contact them in an emergency.

On the night!

  • Be ready on time!
  • Possibly take along your favourite CD!
  • Don’t ruin your night with alcohol!
  • Belt up in the car – remember you are still travelling in a moving vehicle!
  • Above all…..Have Fun!!
